Support for people living with dementia
One of the key driving forces in founding Ostara was the opportunity to combine my passion for supporting people and their loved ones who are living with dementia alongside my skillset as a physiotherapist. At every step, Ostara was developed with people affected by dementia in mind- for people who are finding that their cognitive impairment increases their risk of falling, reduces their mobility and confidence and negatively impacts their sense of self. I wanted to create a service that gets to know you as a person so that together, we can create meaningful, achievable goals which keep you feeling like you.
Prior to founding Ostara, I have extensive experience supporting people living with various cognitive impairments in a variety of NHS health and social care settings. I am the Dementia Officer for the professional network for Physiotherapists Working With Older People (AGILE) and have published a children's book recommended by Dementia UK- you can read more about Big Bear, Little Bear and Dementia here.

Dementia Specialist Initial Assessment
During the Dementia specialist physiotherapy initial consultation, Ostara's highly trained physiotherapist will allocate three hours to spend with the person and their support network to build rapport, complete a thorough assessment, and provide personalised recommendations.
Our aim is to understand the individual's unique strengths, needs and challenges, enabling us to develop a tailored treatment plan that will maintain independence and improve their quality of life.

Dementia Specialist Follow-up Appointment
A dementia specialist follow-up appointment is designed to continue working towards the personalised goals set during the initial assessment. The physiotherapist will use the information gathered during the initial assessment to tailor the follow-up appointment to the individual needs.
It is important to note that not all people require a follow-up assessment- this can be discussed with the client and their support network to decide what is best for them.
